‘Things to Come’ Copyright Julio Cotto 2009.
A young woman in a red dress is walking the fields. She is bogged down with the blacks and blues of the heavy sky. She can’t escape the calls and occupation of scavangers waiting to feed when she falls. She glowers around the day and doesn’t remember if the storm is coming or if it has passed. She is lonely and lost in the shadows of her pain and blind to her fate.
Suddenly a light calls her eyes from above. She sees a ribbon of hope campaigning it’s way through the daunting grim clouds. White and gold cut their way through shapes of death and billows of gray. The light is warm like God on her face. Her heart begins to lift. She knows the unclean birds will retreat to arid places and her worry will be unyoked. She sees clearly now and knows that the storm has passed. Redemption whispers promise in her ears. She awakes from her sleep. Her accurst season is over and her blessings are sown. With eyes closed she has been shown… things to come.
I love this work. Done by one of my favorite artist Julio Cotto.
